Escalante Outfitters
About This Spot
Stepping into Escalante Outfitters feels a bit like arriving at a well-loved crossroads in the heart of town—where outdoor adventure meets the simple pleasures of good food and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re popping in after a day of hiking or settling down for a slower moment, the atmosphere strikes a warm, inviting balance between lively energy and unhurried comfort. This is a place where locals mingle with travelers, sharing stories over thoughtfully crafted meals and a well-curated selection of drinks.
The pace here moves with the rhythms of the small town, calm but never stagnant. Inside, the cozy dining area and sunlit patio invite you to pause and soak in the casual buzz—chatty voices, the clink of glasses, and the subtle hum of the kitchen at work. It’s a spot where a friendly smile from the staff feels as natural as breathing, adding to the ease that makes each visit feel personal rather than perfunctory.
The menu echoes this spirit of honest comfort and local flavor, never trying to do too much but instead focusing on hearty, thoughtfully prepared plates. Pizzas arrive with unmistakably homemade crusts, topped generously with fresh, sometimes unexpected ingredients that reflect a care for both craft and creativity. Alongside, salads and sandwiches offer balanced, vibrant bites that pair beautifully with the selection of beers and ciders, reinforcing the feeling that every element on your plate and in your glass has been chosen with intention.
Beyond the restaurant, Escalante Outfitters extends its welcoming embrace to travelers in need of refreshment and rest, offering clean, accommodating facilities that feel practical and unpretentious. It’s a rare combination—a hub that supports both the appetite and the journey, making it an anchor point for those discovering the surrounding wilderness.
In a town where options can feel limited, this spot becomes a comforting constant. The genuine warmth in the team’s approach, the quality that shows up in the food, and the easy, friendly atmosphere all come together here—not as buzzwords, but as everyday expressions of what makes this place truly local and worth returning to.

We received a recommendation to come here after a long day of driving and were very happy. They were SUPER packed but still kept service very pleasant and cheery. They have a huge selection of pizzas, salads and desserts. Everything was delicious and even though we did carry out, it stayed delicious. I'd highly recommend you stop by!

This is "the place" in town for food and drinks. They specialize in pizza, sandwiches and salads-- not steak and seafood, but they do them well. We enjoyed a pizza and Caesar salad and they were both fresh and tasty - everything is homemade. The service was good and their location is center of town. They offer indoor and patio seating which is nice. I can recommend if their menu meets your needs.

Maybe the best pizza we’ve ever had and amazing service to match. We got a large Moody Creek and small Day Hiker to split between the four of us and had plenty of food for leftovers, but it was so good that we just ate it all right then and there. I couldn’t give higher praise. The crust is clearly homemade and the toppings are plentiful. Delicious in all ways. If you’re in the area and they’re open, please give it a try. As a plus, they serve beer.

Cannot speak highly enough of this place. The staff were all kind, helpful, welcoming, and personable. The facilities were clean and accepting of all travelers needs including fresh water, laundry services for cheap, and showers. Best of all is the food and restaurant staff. I've worked for James Beard award winning restaurants and specialty pizza for years, and this pizza is something I'll be writing to anyone who will listen to make their way to Escalante to try. A sourdough crust over 20 years in the making with flavor and texture to die for. Each topping had incredible attention to detail both in selection and execution. A Monday night stop turned into a lifetime memory. Thank you to the kitchen crew killing it and the service staff for creating a home, I hope you all have a wonderful off-season.

This review is for the restaurant: The food was delicious and made exactly how we ordered it. It was served pretty quickly and the staff was really friendly. We liked that they were one of the few places in town open on Sunday and that they had a bunch of decent beer and cider options available. The baked goods in the case up front are homemade and looked delicious (although we didn't have enough room in our bellies to have any dessert, today). The parking was easy - there's a parking lot and there's also street parking. There's wifi inside the restaurant.

Fantastic, inclusive, welcoming atmosphere with indie feel. The menu has something for everyone - including vegetarians. The pizza is amazing with quality ingredients and nicely toasted crust. The store is well-stocked with essential, yet also thoughtful gear and an excellent library offering helpful info to the area. Don't pass this place up!

Escalante Outfitters is the best! We stopped here for lunch on our way from Bryce Canyon National Park to Capital Reef National Park. We had the most delicious pizza! It was fresh and hot and tasty. Lots of vegetarian options. They had so many delicious looking baked goods I wanted to eat them all. We decided on a chocolate chip pumpkin cookie for the road and it was one of the best cookies I’ve ever had! The woman working there was so friendly. If you’re in Escalante stop here for lunch! It’s amazing!

Delicious pizza & they offer a gluten free crust as well. We stayed in the RV park down the street while exploring the area & ate pizza at EO twice because it was so delish! But, I think my hubby would have had pizza & beer there every night he loved it so much! Lot’s of outdoor seating, but be sure to order inside before grabbing a table. This place is popular & gets super busy, especially on the weekends.
